Adirondack Detective

I just finished the latest installment in the Adirondack Detective series titled, Adirondack Detective Goes West. This time detective Jason Black leaves his K-9 Ruben behind as he heads to Arizona. I've head the pleasure of meeting John at two of his book signings and he's a great man. He's a retired NYS Trooper and this is his fourth installment. John's characters are decent, moral, nice people. Jason Black reminds me of Roy Rogers, Jimmy Stewart or Gary Cooper. He's loving to his wife Patty and loyal to his friends and community. It's rare to read anything wholesome and Americana. I, myself, could never write in this style. I think it's because my generation are egotist, skeptical, jaded beings. I can be as square as anyone and I do love stories like Adirondack Detective.

Hunter S. Thompson
Well, I'm reading another one of Hunter S. Thompson's books. Hell's Angels is his profile of the motorcycle gang and so far it's one wild ride. The term "Gonzo Journalism" was born of Thompson's style. What a great writer and what a life he led. It's too bad he committed suicide and robbed the world of any new writings.
