Another Great Day

The Mohawk Valley
Wow, I can't believe how nice the weather was today. Instead of snow shoveling, I took my kids outside to ride scooters and play a little ball. The Mohawk Valley is so beautiful, winter, summer and fall. I travel to large cities and it boggles my mind how people can live in these human ant farms. I love the excitement and bustle of places like New York City but couldn't imagine living there all the time. You can live right in the Mohawk Valley where the food is good and the crime is low. No traffic jams on the way to work and a hometown brewery in Utica that makes Saranac and Utica Club. I'm not being paid to say these nice things about this area, it's just the way I feel.

Lamb
I'm still reading this book by Christopher Moore and I still can't get over how original and funny it is. I went to mass today and wondered if I should be reading this book since it has some hilarious situations with a young Jesus. I took my kids to Barnes and Noble last night and I swear I could live in that place. If I won the lottery I'd buy every book I could and have my own private library. Oh, well, to dream.

Thanksgiving
This is the time of year everyone gives thanks for the gifts we have. I'm thankful for my fantastic wife, my beautiful children and the good health I have. My family and friends are another reason to be thankful. Notice I didn't list my Mercedes, my big screen television or my condo in the tropics. . . Because I don't have any of these things. The only luxury item I have is my Rolex watch that belonged to my wife's father. I'm holding it until my son is old enough to have it. Not that I don't want the finer things in life but these don't define who I am as a man. I could care less about acquiring wealth and possessions. I don't want to possess what ends up owning me in the long run. Enough of the philosophical mumbo jumbo. Happy Thanksgiving.

Book Release
My book should be out in a few weeks. I'll post it as soon as it's out.

The Last American Virgin

The Last American Virgin
I watched the DVD of this movie that came out in 1982 and boy did it bring back memories. It's not easy being a teenager, especially when you love a girl who doesn't know you exist. The premise of this movie is Gary, who works at a pizzeria and drives a pink station wagon, loves Karen, the new girl at school who loves his best friend. Bottom line is this movie made me remember being a sixteen year old misfit who listened to Journey, Reo Speedwagon, while drinking beers out of a milk jug. I hardly see any movies today that have mature themes in them.

Weather
Well today was a great day to place the storm windows on and buckle down for the long cold winter of central New York. It was nice enough that I played baseball with my son and a little kickball with my daughters. I think I did okay for a dude pushing forty.

Lamb

Lamb
I'm reading a book by Christopher Moore titled Lamb and it's one of the funniest books I have ever picked up. It's about Christ's childhood pal Biff. Christopher Moore is such a great writer that he makes it look easy and believe me it's not simple to write something so funny. Humor is tough to write well.

The Apprentice
I don't watch much television but I never miss an episode of Donald Trump firing another job candidate. The human condition is an amazing thing to watch. You can have a Harvard degree and still be an unpolished slob with no manners. You can have an Oxford education and still put your foot in your mouth in the boardroom. That's why human beings are such faulty stalks of carbon.

Winter
Well winter is slowly creeping up on the Mohawk Valley. The winters up here are long and cold but they make you savor the slim amount of sunny summer days. I do like fall with football, the changing of the leaves and the taste of fresh apples picked right off of the tree.
